8th officer also dies at Negombo Hospital - Deaths rise to 27

Another prison officer who was hospitalized and receiving treatment for injuries sustained in the severe clash that occurred at the Negombo Prison recently, passed away this morning (07). Information regarding the prison officer who died while receiving treatment at the Negombo District Hospital has also been officially confirmed by the hospital's director, Consultant Physician Dr. Pushpa Gamlathge.

Accordingly, the total number of prison officers who have died due to the violent incident that occurred inside the prison yesterday (06) has risen to 08. The total number of people who have died in this tragedy has now increased to 27, and it is reported that 19 of them were inmates held in the prison.
