The Colombo Crimes Division (CCD) today informed the court that investigations are ongoing while Osmand Gunasekara, known as 'Gampaha Osman', who was arrested in connection with the Ganemulla Sanjeewa murder case, is further detained under detention orders. This case was today called before Colombo Chief Magistrate Asanga S.

Bodaragama, at which time these facts were revealed by police officers.

Officers of the Crimes Division stated that the suspect's house and surrounding area were searched under a search warrant, and several important documents were found. Among them, the police informed the court that there was also a Red Notice issued for a person named 'Kehelbaddara Padme'.

Furthermore, a detailed document containing old and current case details of the murdered Ganemulla Sanjeewa, information about his close associates, and their phone numbers was also found there. This clearly indicates that the suspect, Osmand Gunasekara, had been closely and vigilantly monitoring all activities of Ganemulla Sanjeewa. The police further stated that facts regarding an unregistered motorcycle and a firearm found in the same premises have been reported to the Gampaha Magistrate's Court.

It was also revealed that a 30-day detention order has been obtained for further questioning of Ishara Sewwandi, another suspect related to this incident. Meanwhile, Attorney Asith Siriwardhana, appearing for suspect Osmand Gunasekara, addressed the court and stated that when he went to meet his client, who is detained at the Colombo Crimes Division, police officers did not grant him permission.

However, the accusation made by the lawyer was strongly rejected by the officers of the Colombo Crimes Division. After considering the facts presented by both parties, the Chief Magistrate ordered the Director of the Colombo Crimes Division to appear before the court on the next hearing date to inquire into these professional interferences and present facts, issuing a notice accordingly. Thus, this complaint was scheduled to be called again on the upcoming 26th.
