Sugeeshwara Bandara arrested

Mr. Sugishwara Bandara, who served as the private secretary to former President Gotabaya Rajapaksa, has been arrested by the Central Criminal Investigation Department. Mr. Bandara, who is also the leader of the New People's Front, has been taken into custody by the security forces in connection with a special investigation.

The reason for this arrest is an ongoing investigation into an incident where he allegedly received salaries from two government institutions. It is further stated that this step has been taken based on the investigations carried out by the Central Criminal Investigation Department regarding that incident.
