Investigation into Mr. Koththu over video of assaulting employee

A series of visuals showing Viraj Wickramanayake, the owner of the well-known 'Mr Kottu' restaurant chain, inhumanely assaulting an employee of his establishment, is currently rapidly circulating on social media networks. The video reveals that the head of the establishment severely assaulted the employee, verbally abusing him with obscene language, claiming that the employees had failed to meet the marketing targets set by the company.

This shocking series of visuals, recorded by a security camera (CCTV) installed inside the establishment, has been identified as having occurred on the 5th of last month. With the public exposure of this incident, which shows an employee being treated in a very demeaning and inhumane manner, it is observed that strong disapproval and severe criticism are being directed from a majority of parties.

The police confirm that the Maharagama Police Station has already launched a special investigation into this assault incident. Responding to an inquiry about this, Police Media Spokesperson, Assistant Superintendent of Police F.U. Wuttler stated that investigations are being carried out based on the relevant video footage, and the police will not hesitate to strictly enforce the law against the culprits.
