Several investigative units have launched extensive investigations into the sons of ten former ministers who are facing various charges of irregularities, bribery, and corruption. These investigations are being led by several institutions, including the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption and the Criminal Investigation Department.

Information has been received that some individuals among this group of suspicious ministerial sons have maintained close ties with organized underworld groups, and a senior police officer has confirmed that special investigations are underway regarding this. Authorities have already taken necessary security measures to prevent them from fleeing abroad to evade legal action.

Three sons of politicians, including former ministers, have already been taken into police custody on charges of corruption and underworld connections. Among them, Mr. Rakitha Rajapaksa, son of former Minister of Justice Dr. Wijeyadasa Rajapakshe, was recently arrested in connection with a bribery charge.

Preliminary investigations have revealed that these individuals have engaged in various acts of corruption and irregularities by misusing the political power held by their fathers during the previous governments. Sources from the Criminal Investigation Department state that the relevant former ministers have directly supported some illegal incidents, and therefore, statements are expected to be recorded from these former politicians in the future.

Information has revealed that these individuals committed these irregularities during the period they held various positions under the political influence of their fathers. Security forces are working to make further arrests after gathering sufficient evidence against them through the ongoing investigations.

In addition, the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption has commenced its investigations targeting another group of close relatives of former ministers who are facing various financial and corruption charges.
