American veteran character actor James Handy, who contributed his acting talents to many popular films such as 'Top Gun: Maverick', 'Jumanji', and 'Arachnophobia', has been stabbed to death with a sharp weapon at a house in Tarzana, Los Angeles. According to leading foreign media reports, Handy, who was eighty-one years old at the time of his death, was brutally murdered by his girlfriend's son on June 3 or 4, 2026.

According to the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD), officers responded to an emergency call about an "unknown trouble" at the house on Erwin Street around 9:30 AM. The person who made the 911 call unusually stated, "I am the son of man, I killed the sinful man," which drew significant attention. When police arrived at the scene, Handy was found unconscious in the front yard with a stab wound to the chest. Although Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics immediately attempted to transport him to a local hospital, he was confirmed to be deceased upon arrival.

When police arrived at the crime scene, 44-year-old Michael Gledhill, Handy's girlfriend's son, signaled them and identified himself as the suspect. He had been living in the house with his mother and James Handy. Police arrested him on murder charges and detained him at Van Nuys prison. Following the arrest of the suspect, who has a $2 million bail, authorities clarified that this was an isolated incident stemming from a family dispute and posed no threat to the public.

The religious or delusional nature of the 911 call related to this crime has drawn much attention, and some chilling scenes related to the suspect's behavior after the incident have also been recorded on CCTV cameras. Tarzana is a peaceful suburb in the San Fernando Valley of Los Angeles, and photographs of the ordinary-looking house, now covered with police tape, are currently being published through news coverage.

Throughout his acting career spanning over five decades, James Handy was an exceptionally busy actor who contributed to over 150 productions. His distinctive performances graced films such as 'Top Gun: Maverick' (2022) where he played the character of Jimmy, 'Jumanji' (1995) where he played the exterminator, as well as popular films like 'Logan' and 'The Rocketeer'. In addition, he showcased his acting prowess in numerous television series such as 'Beverly Hills, 90210', 'Melrose Place', 'ER', 'The West Wing', 'Alias', 'The X-Files', 'Criminal Minds', 'NYPD Blue', and 'The Young and the Restless'. His agency confirmed Handy's identity and expressed their profound sorrow, while industry veterans remembered him as a reliable supporting actor who added great value to any production.
