Venerable Galagodaaththe Gnanasara Thero states that extremist terrorism is not limited to Sri Lanka but is a serious global catastrophe faced by the entire world. He points out that many such brutal extremist attacks have been reported throughout history in various countries around the world, such as New Zealand, France, Germany, the United States, Australia, and Bangladesh. He mentions that even though such massive terrorist acts occurred internationally, he has never seen Catholic churches or priests in those countries take to the streets to search for the "masterminds."Despite this, the intense interest in searching for a mastermind only within Sri Lanka has been questioned by him.
"On the other hand, were such terrorist attacks launched only in Sri Lanka? This is not the first attack in the world. Many such extremist attacks have occurred in numerous countries worldwide, including New Zealand, France, Germany, the United States, Australia, and Bangladesh. With so many incidents reported, we didn't see Catholic churches or priests in those countries taking to the streets to search for the mastermind. What is this fuss that has arisen?"
Gnanasara Thero emphasizes that the Easter Sunday suicide bomb attack was neither a sudden nor an isolated incident, but rather the culmination of an international ideology that had been active for a long time. He states that this is not the result of a local political conspiracy, as some claim, but an extension of an international extremist program that gradually developed and grew since 1953. Even the American FBI, after meticulously examining the technical equipment possessed by the attackers, has scientifically confirmed that this was a massive destruction carried out by Zahran and his group. Despite this, he states that some individuals are engaged in a futile attempt to search for a mastermind for narrow political interests.
In this situation, Gnanasara Thero also issued a direct challenge to the Catholic Church, led by Cardinal Malcolm Ranjith and Father Cyril Gamini, as well as to other Christian denominations including Anglican and Protestant, and Muslim parties. He rejected all accusations leveled against Mr. Suresh Sallay, stating that Sallay was a skilled officer who had been keenly observing the extremist groups emerging within the Muslim community and had constantly issued warnings about them.
Gnanasara Thero also points out that it is ridiculous to claim that intelligence agencies provided a sum like two and a half lakhs of rupees, when large-scale businessmen like Ibrahim Hajjiar, who were earning billions, were behind Zahran and his group. He further accuses certain media outlets, which worked to break the morale of the war heroes and security forces who dedicated themselves to ending the thirty-year brutal war, of now engaging in a despicable attempt to create hatred towards intelligence officers within society.
