The three young women who stirred up social media by saying 'no problem' even without helmets, have been arrested.

Buttala Police have taken steps to strictly enforce the law against three young women who traveled on a motorcycle without wearing helmets and released the footage on social media. Police officers, who launched a special investigation into this video clip that was widely discussed on the internet in recent days, made these arrests after uncovering information about the suspects involved and the relevant motorcycle.

Investigations have revealed that they obtained video footage by dangerously riding a motorcycle in the Buttala area on a day in April last year. The police have confirmed that the young woman who rode the motorcycle, among these young women who are residents of Hidikiwula, Unawatuna, and Kolabegewatta areas, does not even possess a valid driving license. After recording statements related to the incident, the young woman who rode the motorcycle and the motorcycle itself have been taken into police custody, and a case has also been filed against the owner of the motorcycle under the charge of allowing a person without a driving license to operate their vehicle.

The main suspect has been charged before the Wellawaya Magistrate's Court under the accusations of reckless driving, driving without a driving license, traveling without a safety helmet, and carrying more than the stipulated number of passengers on the motorcycle. The three young women involved in this incident and the person who provided the motorcycle are scheduled to appear before the Wellawaya Magistrate's Court today, and officers from the Buttala Police Station are conducting further investigations into the incident.
