Student injured while going to Sunday school dies after a week

A school student who was hospitalized with serious injuries after a CTB bus and a motorcycle collided head-on in the Siripuragama area, which belongs to the Uva Kudaoya police division, died on the 11th of last month, approximately a week after the accident.

The student who unfortunately passed away was a resident of the Siripuragama area, who had sat for this year's G.C.E. Ordinary Level examination and was awaiting its results. This horrific road accident occurred on the 3rd of last month while the student was traveling to Dhamma school on his motorcycle.

At the time of the accident, his cousin sister was also riding on the back seat of the motorcycle driven by the student. That school girl, who was studying in the ninth grade, died on the very day of the accident. The student who was driving the motorcycle sustained severe injuries and was admitted to the Monaragala District General Hospital for treatment when he succumbed to his injuries.

Further investigations into this fatal road accident are currently being conducted by Kudaoya Police Station OIC, Mr. Priyantha Kumarasinghe.
