Mr. K.D. Chandrasoma Perera, a veteran educationist who rendered an unparalleled service to the education sector in Sri Lanka, and the founder and chief editor of the Sathara Group of Services, has passed away.
At the time of this demise, which occurred yesterday (30th), he was 82 years old. Mr. Chandrasoma Perera, who was also a former officer of the Sri Lanka Education Administrative Service, was an excellent teacher and a talented author who was very well-known in the country's school education sector, especially concerning the Grade 5 Scholarship Examination and the subject of Mathematics.The remains of the late Mr. Chandrasoma Perera are currently placed at his private residence, No. 8/2, Melder Place, Nugegoda. Family members have informed that his final rites are scheduled to take place on Tuesday, June 02, at 4:00 PM at the Borella Public Cemetery.
The 'Sathara Publications' institution, founded by him to uplift the educational activities of schoolchildren in this country, is undoubtedly recognized as a leading educational publishing house in Sri Lanka. This institution prints and distributes supplementary books, past papers, and workbooks related to various subjects for children studying from Grade 1 up to G.C.E. Ordinary Level and Advanced Level. Especially, the long-term service rendered by Mr. Chandrasoma Perera in collaboration with Sathara Publications to enhance the mathematics, Sinhala, and general knowledge of primary grade students in Sri Lanka, i.e., those appearing for the scholarship examination, has been appreciated by the entire student community of the country.
