High-Level Road will be closed tonight (31st) due to the Nugegoda Temple's procession.

A special traffic plan has been decided to be implemented within the Mirihana Police Division due to the Perahera (procession) organized by the Nugegoda Siridhammarama Viharaya coinciding with the 2026 Vesak Festival. This Perahera will be held on 2026.05.31, and a large crowd is expected to attend to witness it.

This Perahera is scheduled to commence from High-Level Junction near the Nugegoda Flyover, and then it will proceed along High-Level Road up to Gam Sabha Junction. Subsequently, the Perahera will travel from Gam Sabha Junction to Kattiya Junction, and from there along Old Kottawa Road to Nugegoda town, before returning to High-Level Junction via Stanley Thilakarathne Mawatha.

Given this situation, from 07:00 PM to 10:00 PM, both outbound lanes (towards outside Colombo) on High-Level Road, from the Nugegoda Flyover to Gam Sabha Junction, will be reserved for the Perahera. During this period, the two inbound lanes (towards Colombo) will be utilized for two-way traffic: one lane for entering Colombo and another lane for exiting Colombo.

Furthermore, from 08:00 PM to 11:00 PM, the road from Gam Sabha Junction to Kattiya Junction will be temporarily closed for vehicular traffic. As an alternative, vehicles coming from Piliyandala side and intending to travel towards Jubilee Post via Kattiya Junction can turn left at Gam Sabha Junction, enter Nugegoda town, and proceed along Stanley Thilakarathne Mawatha to Jubilee Post. Similarly, vehicles coming from Mirihana Roundabout can travel along Old Kottawa Road towards Maharagama, and then access Gam Sabha Junction via High-Level Road.

Additionally, from 08:00 PM to 12:00 AM (midnight), the section of Old Kottawa Road from Nugegoda Nawala Roundabout to Delkanda Junction will also be temporarily closed. Vehicles traveling from Nawala Road towards Delkanda can turn left at Nugegoda Nawala Roundabout, proceed via Stanley Thilakarathne Mawatha to Old Kottawa Road, turn right at Maharagama Rolence Junction, and then travel along High-Level Road to Delkanda. Alternatively, they can turn right at Nawala Roundabout in Nugegoda town and access Delkanda via High-Level Road. Vehicles traveling from Delkanda towards Nawala via Old Kottawa Road should proceed towards Nugegoda from Delkanda Junction and can enter Nugegoda town under the flyover. The Police Media Division of the Sri Lanka Police requests drivers and the public to use the aforementioned alternative routes for their travel during this period of road closures due to the Perahera.
