Former Minister Lakshman Yapa Abeywardena states that doctors have advised former Minister Basil Rajapaksa to avoid engaging in air travel due to his current illness. He revealed this while addressing a press conference yesterday, also disclosing that due to his serious health condition, no airline is willing to take responsibility for his travel.
The former minister also responded to a question raised by journalists regarding the issuance of a warrant for Basil Rajapaksa due to his failure to appear before the court as scheduled. He pointed out that issuing warrants when a person fails to appear before the court as scheduled is a normal legal process.
Lakshman Yapa Abeywardena further stated that medical reports clearly explain Basil Rajapaksa's current health inability to participate in long-haul flights lasting several hours. He also emphasized that Mr. Rajapaksa is ready to return to the island as soon as he recovers from his illness.
