All movable and immovable properties belonging to the Mahindananda Aluthgamage Foundation, which had been enjoyed and maintained under a lease basis for over two decades, were officially handed back to the Sri Lanka Railways Department this morning (02).

The main reason for repossessing these properties is the authorities' decision that the terms of the lease agreement have been violated by allowing a religious program to be held within the premises.

The Foundation's Secretary, Mr. Chamika Dharmatilake, told the media that providing the land for a "Sadaham Suwanda" (Fragrance of Dhamma) meditation program, organized by the Nawalapitiya Young Buddhist Association and led by Kiribathgoda Gnanananda Thero, has been interpreted as a breach of the agreement.

Accordingly, based on the violation of the said agreements, the relevant authorities had recently officially informed the Foundation to vacate the premises immediately.

Previously, at the District Coordination Committee meeting held last December, this matter received significant attention, and Deputy Minister of Transport Prasanna Gunaseena and Member of Parliament Thushari Jayasinghe had instructed the relevant officials to complete the process of repossessing these properties for the government within one month.
