A young man has been arrested in connection with an incident where a part of the property at the Pettah Central Bus Terminal, which was recently opened to the public after renovation, was stolen and damaged. The Police Media Division stated that the suspect was apprehended during a raid conducted yesterday (11) in the Kelaniya area.

At the time of his arrest, a portion of the property stolen from the bus terminal was also found in his possession and taken into police custody.

It has been revealed that this damage occurred after the bus terminal was extensively renovated and opened for public use on the 8th of last month. The first complaint regarding the incident was lodged with the Pettah Police Station by the welfare division of the bus terminal. As a result of an operation carried out by investigating officers based on that complaint, a 33-year-old resident of the Kelaniya area has been arrested.

To properly calculate the total damage caused to the bus terminal's property, it has been decided to seek the assistance of the Sri Lanka Air Force, and accordingly, authorities state that a special assessment report is to be called for from the Air Force. Meanwhile, after the arrested suspect was produced before the Colombo Chief Magistrate's Court for further legal action, the Magistrate ordered him to be remanded until the upcoming 17th.
