On April 21, US President Donald Trump announced the further extension of a two-week ceasefire, which was scheduled to end on April 22, amidst the ongoing military situation between the United States, Israel, and Iran, which has been active for over 53 days. President Trump stated via his 'Truth Social' account that this decision was made following a request by Pakistan's Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Asim Munir, and citing that the Iranian government has severely collapsed in this war, which began after the attack launched by American and Israeli forces on February 28, assassinating Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.

The President further stated that "Iranian leaders and representatives have asked us to suspend the attack on that country until they present a unified proposal," however, he has instructed the American forces to continue maintaining naval sanctions against Iran.

Responding to America's announcement of this ceasefire extension, Iran's 'Khatam al-Anbiya' Joint Military Command Headquarters and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) stated that they are ready to launch an attack at any moment. Tehran authorities, stating that this ceasefire is meaningless if the naval sanctions imposed against Iran are not lifted, have also described these sanctions as an act of war violating the ceasefire. On the night of April 21, the Iranian Guard Corps held a special night parade in Tehran, showcasing 'Khorramshahr' and 'Ghadr-110' ballistic missiles, and thereby issued a clear warning that they are ready to strike Gulf regional and Qatari targets. Military leaders, including Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, emphasized that they would not hesitate to introduce new tactics to the battlefield.

Meanwhile, the second round of US-Iran peace talks, planned to be held in Islamabad, Pakistan, has completely collapsed. US Vice President J.D. Vance's visit to Pakistan has also been suspended for this reason, with Iran's refusal to participate in the talks being the main cause. Tehran authorities, calling America's recent seizure of an Iranian vessel an act of piracy, have imposed a strict condition that naval sanctions must be immediately lifted before any discussions can take place. Despite strong intervention by Pakistani officials for a ceasefire, the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs officially announced on April 21 that it would not engage in any talks under pressure.

Although the ceasefire has been extended, the strict naval sanctions imposed by the United States targeting Iranian ports and the Strait of Hormuz remain in effect. Iran, considering these blockades an economic war, has continuously fired upon and obstructed vessels attempting to pass through the region. Iranian authorities have warned that the Strait of Hormuz will not be reopened as long as American forces continue this blockade. Due to this crisis, the global oil market faces severe instability, with some countries in the Asian region reporting fuel shortages and a rapid increase in world energy prices.

Although this temporary ceasefire has provided short-term relief, the fundamental issues of this large-scale war, which has claimed thousands of lives across the Middle East, remain unresolved. On April 21, a massive protest was held by former military personnel and civilian activists at the US Capitol Hill premises, demanding an immediate end to the war, where 62 individuals were arrested. Although no new casualties have been reported from any side in the past 24 hours, there is a high risk of a massive conflict re-emerging at any moment due to naval sanctions, nuclear issues, and Iran-backed armed groups.
