Wennappuwa chain snatcher thrashed by villagers (video)

News was reported on the morning of the day before yesterday (08) that a person who attempted to snatch a gold chain from a woman traveling on a motorcycle on the main road in the Wennappuwa Waikkala area was caught by the intervention of residents and handed over to the police. While the young woman, who had gone to a shop and was returning, was traveling on her motorcycle, this suspect, who had come behind her on another motorcycle, caused her motorcycle to crash, making her fall. He then immediately tried to snatch the gold chain from her neck and escape, while the young woman screamed.

After both motorcycles overturned, as the person tried to take the snatched chain, get on his motorcycle, and escape, a mother and son, hearing the noise and coming to the spot, immediately acted. The son ran and managed to catch the suspect who was about to escape. The suspect, thus caught by the residents, was later beaten.

The suspect and the motorcycle he came on have now been handed over to the Wennappuwa Police Station for further legal action. During preliminary investigations, it has been revealed that the person thus arrested is a 29-year-old resident of the Malwatta Road area in Kalutara.
