Residents of Kitulgala have succeeded in apprehending two suspects along with a large stock of kerosene prepared for unlicensed transport. The suspects have been arrested by the Kitulgala Police in connection with this illegal activity.

On the dawn of the 5th, the suspicious manner in which kerosene was being obtained for a lorry from a fuel station in the Kitulgala area was observed by the surrounding community. Approximately 4000 liters of kerosene were loaded onto the lorry using four tanks, and their plan was to transport this illegal fuel stock to the Kegalle area.

Residents, who were observing the situation, immediately took action, took the lorry into their custody, and informed the Kitulgala Police Station. Accordingly, police officers who arrived at the scene took the driver of the lorry and his assistant, who attempted to transport fuel without a license, into police custody.

It is reported that the two suspects who were arrested were released on police bail on the same day. However, the Kitulgala Police stated that the stock of kerosene taken into police custody in connection with this incident, along with the suspect driver and his assistant, were to be produced before the Ruwanwella Magistrate's Court on the twelfth (12th).
