The suspect involved in an incident where a person, riding a motorcycle in violation of road rules, brutally assaulted another motorcyclist who was traveling in the correct lane with his safety helmet, has been arrested by Kuliyapitiya Police.
The person who carried out this assault was traveling on a motorcycle with a woman, and he entered the main road from the Kuliyapitiya, Meegahakotuwa junction completely disregarding the rule of giving priority to vehicles coming from the right. At that moment, he narrowly avoided colliding with a middle-aged motorcyclist who was traveling in the correct direction on the main road, and due to the situation that arose, the offending motorcyclist severely assaulted the other person with his helmet.
The entire assault incident was very clearly recorded on a dash camera installed in a motor vehicle that was traveling on the relevant road at that moment. Subsequently, these video clips began to circulate rapidly across various social media networks starting yesterday.
Following a swift investigation by a special police team, deployed under the direct intervention of the Kuliyapitiya Headquarters Chief Police Inspector, who paid special attention to these widely circulated social media visuals, the suspect was apprehended today (19).
The arrested individual has been identified by the police as someone who frequently loiters around Kuliyapitiya town, and further investigations have revealed that several court cases are already pending against him. The arrested suspect is scheduled to be produced before the court along with video evidence confirming the assault.
