The International Federation of Association Football, or FIFA, officially announced last Thursday (March 19) that it has amended its regulations to mandate greater female representation in the management and coaching of women's football teams.

According to these new regulations, every women's football team participating in FIFA tournaments must have a woman serving as either the head coach or an assistant coach. Additionally, it has been mandated that at least one member of the medical staff in every team and two officials among those seated on the bench for substitute players and officials must be women.

These new provisions introduced by FIFA are set to come into effect starting this year. Accordingly, these regulations will be fully implemented in the next Women's Football World Cup tournament scheduled to be held in 2027.
