A pastor driving a three-wheeler has died in a severe head-on collision between a school bus and a three-wheeler in the Hanwella, Wanahagoda area. The deceased is a forty-year-old man who resided in the Honnanthara area of Piliyandala.
Hanwella Police confirm that he, who sustained serious injuries in the accident, died after being admitted to Homagama Base Hospital.According to police investigations, this accident occurred when the deceased pastor was traveling towards Avissawella along the High-Level Road with another person. At that time, the three-wheeler they were traveling in collided with a bus transporting schoolchildren from Avissawella towards Colombo. Due to the severity of the collision, the handlebar of the three-wheeler pierced the driver's chest, and the other person traveling with him also sustained serious injuries and was transferred to the Colombo National Hospital for further treatment after being admitted to Homagama Base Hospital.
The inquest into the death of the deceased was conducted by Homagama Inquirer into Sudden Deaths and Justice of the Peace, Mr. Chinthaka Udaya Kumara, and the post-mortem examination was performed by the Judicial Medical Officer of Homagama Base Hospital, Dr. M. S. Dineth. Based on the evidence and medical reports presented, the Inquirer into Sudden Deaths concluded that fatal blunt force trauma to the neck and chest areas was the cause of death. Further investigations into this road accident are being conducted under the leadership of Police Constable (92840) Dissanayake of the Hanwella Police.
