Amidst the escalating regional war tensions between the United States, Israel, and Iran, a drone attack has occurred at Kuwait International Airport (Kuwait City Airport). According to the Kuwaiti Ministry of Defense, enemy drones invaded the country's airspace in the early hours of the morning, targeting the aircraft fuel storage complex at the airport.

Authorities have described this as a direct attack targeting the country's essential infrastructure.

The attack caused a large fire on the airport grounds, with at least two fuel storage tanks sustaining severe material damage. However, it has been confirmed that there were no fatalities or injuries within the airport premises. The attacked fuel tanks are controlled by the Kuwait Aviation Fueling Company (KAFCO), which is also the main supplier of fuel to the airport via pipelines from the government-owned refineries of Mina Al-Ahmadi and Mina Abdullah. Kuwaiti emergency response units and firefighters acted swiftly following the attack, successfully extinguishing the fire, and an assessment of the damage is currently underway.

The Kuwaiti armed forces indicate that this was not an isolated incident but part of a wave of enemy drones and ballistic missiles launched against the State of Kuwait on that day. Security forces had successfully intercepted and destroyed many of them in mid-air. This incident is considered an extension of a series of drone and missile attacks recently launched against several Gulf countries such as Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, and Qatar. Many parties speculate that Iran or Iranian-backed armed groups orchestrated these regional attacks as a response to attacks targeting Iranian assets, including oil facilities in Tehran.

Although some damage has occurred to the airport's infrastructure due to the attack, initial reports have not revealed any massive disruption to daily flight operations. However, authorities are now focused on ensuring the continuous supply of fuel for aircraft in the future, given the attack on the fuel storage facilities. The spread of conflicts between Iran and the American-Israeli parties across the Gulf region has created significant uncertainty regarding the overall security of the entire region.
