A woman commits suicide because the police ignored the constable's 'living without marriage' issue.

A woman residing in Agra, Uttar Pradesh, India, committed suicide, unable to bear the mental and physical abuse from a police constable with whom she had lived in the same house for four years. J.V., who was attached to the Tajganj Police Station.

She had accused this constable, named Gautam, of keeping her as his wife by promising to marry her, but later refusing to marry her.




This woman, born in Kasganj district, Uttar Pradesh, was previously divorced. She met this constable while working in the private sector in Agra city. However, the deceased woman stated that he, who had lived with her for many years, was now preparing to marry another woman and had avoided her, claiming that his family did not approve of their marriage.

In the video footage recorded by her before committing suicide, it is shown that Gautam and all his family members together severely mentally pressured her and pushed her towards death. She further mentioned that the constable's elder brother told her to marry someone else, and she pleaded with Gautam not to deceive any other girl in such a way.




She had gone to the police station to file a complaint regarding this injustice but received no help there. Furthermore, she was told that no action could be taken against the constable and that he would escape the law. Stating that she received no justice while alive, she appealed through her video to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, requesting justice for her even after death.

However, as the relevant video footage circulated widely on social media, it drew the attention of senior officials. Accordingly, authorities have taken steps to immediately suspend the accused constable J.V. Gautam. Currently, a case has been filed against the constable based on a complaint made by the deceased woman's father, and the police have launched a comprehensive investigation into the incident.
