A motor car fell into a 15-foot precipice while returning after completing the Sri Pada pilgrimage.

An accident occurred when a motor car, which was traveling from Nallathanniya towards Nuwara Eliya after completing the Sri Pada pilgrimage, veered off the road and rolled down an approximately fifteen-foot precipice onto another road below. Norwood Police confirm that three occupants of the vehicle were injured in this accident and admitted to Dikoya Base Hospital.




This road accident was reported around 4:30 PM in the Norwood, Rockwood area on the Hatton-Maskeliya Sri Pada road. According to the police, the driver suddenly fell asleep, causing him to lose control of the vehicle, and it subsequently veered off the main road and rolled onto the lower road leading to the Rockwood Estate.

Initial investigations have revealed that four individuals were traveling in the motor car at the time of the accident. However, only one woman and two other men sustained injuries, and Norwood Police are currently conducting further investigations into the incident.
