With the aim of continuously maintaining public transport services without any hindrance, the Ministry of Energy has now introduced a new program to supply fuel to private buses through depots belonging to the Sri Lanka Transport Board. Concurrently, to ensure the uninterrupted continuation of national-level production processes as well as the provision of essential services, the government has also decided to issue fuel under a special mechanism.

Paying close attention to the current situation in the country, the Minister of Energy makes a special request to the entire public to minimize non-essential daily travel as much as possible and to get used to using fuel very sparingly. The Minister has strongly emphasized the necessity of avoiding acting solely for personal gain and instead clearly understanding the existing national need and acting with strict self-discipline.

The primary objective of these new measures taken by the government is to properly manage the existing limited resources and ensure their more effective distribution to society. Accordingly, the Minister further requests the public to act more responsibly when consuming fuel during this difficult period and provide maximum support to this government program.
