Young man who fell from a three-story building during construction dies

A twenty-three-year-old youth has died after falling from a two-story building under construction in the Duwa Pansala Road area, Kalutara. Police state that the deceased in this unfortunate incident, which occurred on the 6th of last month, is Welivita Mudaliage Vishwa Prabuddha, a married youth residing at Halkadavila, Galgodawatta, Youwangama, Beruwala.




This unfortunate fate befell him while he was working as a mason at a two-story house under construction at No. 88, Suwasewa Mawatha, Duwa Pansala Road, which falls under the Kalutara South Police Division. According to police reports, the accident occurred when the deceased youth was lifting cement mortar to the upper floor using an electric machine that brings construction materials from the ground floor to the second floor of the building.

Preliminary police investigations revealed that at the time of the incident, the electric machine suddenly detached, and the youth fell to the ground floor along with it. The concrete mortar mixture also fell on him as he landed on the ground, burying him under it and causing serious injuries.




Immediately after the accident, other workers at the site arranged for the injured youth to be admitted to the Kalutara Teaching Hospital, but he died while receiving treatment at the hospital. Regarding this death, Kalutara South Police have launched extensive investigations under the guidance and direction of Assistant Superintendent of Police Mr. Sunekshantha and Kalutara South Police Station OIC Mr. Nalaka Gunasekara.
