The Kalutara Crimes Division has succeeded in finding nearly 500 grams of 'Ice' drug, valued at approximately 50 lakhs (5 million) rupees, in the possession of a suspicious individual who was loitering near the Aluthgama railway station.

The Kalutara Crimes Division conducted this raid based on information that a drug trafficking operation was being carried out in the Aluthgama and Welipenna areas by Unakuruwe Shantha, a Southern Province organized crime and drug trafficker.

A mobile phone, suspected to have been used for this trafficking operation, was also taken into police custody from his possession.

Police suspect that the suspect was at this location to hand over the 'Ice' drug to another person, and the arrested suspect is a 22-year-old resident of the Gintota area.

During interrogations, it was revealed that the suspect had established close ties with Unakuruwe Shantha.

Police stated that the arrested suspect is to be produced before the Kalutara Magistrate's Court to obtain detention orders for further investigations.
