The Panadura North Police successfully apprehended the owner of a flower shop operating in the Paratta area within the Panadura North Police Division, and his mother, on the 25th, while they were in possession of approximately 21 grams of heroin. The arrested individuals are the 39-year-old man who operated the said flower shop and his 59-year-old mother.

This tactic was used for the trafficking because no one would inspect the drugs hidden inside coffins during transport. Preliminary investigations have revealed that these suspects had been meticulously carrying out this drug trafficking operation for a long time, even utilizing employees of the flower shop. The most astonishing fact revealed to the police was that the flower shop owner had been paying his employees with heroin instead of monthly salaries.

The estimated street value of the heroin seized by the police is close to one million rupees. A senior police officer stated that a special investigation has been launched under the Money Laundering Act to determine whether the suspect has illegally acquired assets through this drug trafficking operation, and that the suspect mother and son are being held under detention orders for further questioning.
