Minister of Agriculture, Livestock, Land and Irrigation, K. D. states that the recently organized Sangha conference has suffered a severe setback due to its inability to achieve the expected goals, and its situation can be likened to a completely burnt-out light bulb.

Mr. Lalkaantha states. Speaking to the media, he pointed out that although the organizers had planned for nearly eight thousand members of the Maha Sangha to attend this event, only a very limited number of monks, about two hundred and seventy-five, had participated.

The Minister emphasized that any citizen can understand that such conferences will never be successful in the face of the current government's governance methods, the stability established within the economy, and the new political awakening created in society against racism. He further stated that although this conference was convened with the aim of demonstrating their political strength, what ultimately happened was that their power was completely reduced to zero, and if they had not initiated such an action, some of their respect and recognition might have remained in society.

The main reason for this massive defeat is the organizers' lack of proper understanding of the current situation in society. Mr. Lalkaantha, recalling that he had an accurate assessment of the political transformation that occurred in the country after the public struggle in 2022 and the victory in the last general election, also mentioned that it was not merely based on fortune-telling but a scientific analysis based on social and economic factors.

It is the Minister's opinion that as a result of this unsuccessful Sangha conference, the political image of Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa has also suffered serious damage. He stated that just as a flickering light bulb completely burns out, the Opposition Leader has also been politically burnt out through this incident. Furthermore, although it appears that a competition has now emerged between Mr. Sajith Premadasa and Mr. Namal Rajapaksa, targeting the upcoming presidential election, K. D. Lalkaantha further stated that for a real political competition to occur, it is essential for the opposing party to be strong.
