Neluwa and Deraniyagala Homicides

Police state that two murder incidents have been reported from Neluwa and Deraniyagala areas. Both these murders occurred on the 20th of last month, and preliminary investigations have revealed that family disputes and personal conflicts were the cause.

Neluwa Police state that a woman was murdered in the Happitiya area of Neluwa in the early hours of the 20th of last month. A 32-year-old woman residing in the Happitiya area had her throat cut and was killed.

Preliminary police investigations have revealed that the murder was committed by the deceased woman's husband due to a family dispute escalating. The suspect husband, aged around 34, has been arrested by the police, and Neluwa Police are conducting further investigations into the incident.

Meanwhile, Deraniyagala Police report that a person was fatally assaulted with a sharp weapon in the Udamaliboda area of Deraniyagala on the evening of the 20th of last month. Police stated that a 32-year-old resident of the Maliboda area was thus murdered.

Preliminary investigations have revealed that the murder was committed by the deceased's father-in-law, who assaulted him with a sharp weapon due to a personal dispute between them escalating. Deraniyagala Police are conducting further investigations to arrest the suspect who committed the murder.
