Namal also comes to CID

Mr. Namal Rajapaksa, the National Organizer of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna and Member of Parliament, arrived at the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) in Colombo Fort today around 10:15 AM. The MP appeared before the department to give a statement regarding an extensive investigation into alleged connections with 'Kehelbaddara Padme', a powerful member of the underworld, and certain financial irregularities.

Previously, MP Namal Rajapaksa had been notified to appear before the Criminal Investigation Department to record a statement regarding this incident. However, at that time, the MP had informed that he was unable to attend as he was abroad, outside the island. It is reported that today's date was provided in response to his request for an alternative date.

Meanwhile, former First Lady Shiranthi Rajapaksa also arrived at the Financial Crimes Investigation Division (FCID) this morning. She had been summoned to the Financial Crimes Investigation Division to give a statement for an investigation concerning an alleged financial irregularity in the 'Siriliya' account.
