Turning a new page in the history of the Sri Lanka Transport Board, women were officially recruited for the first time today for bus conductor services. In accordance with the decision to provide female representation in this field, which was previously limited only to males, selected new female officers were inducted into the service.

The official ceremony to present appointment letters to 19 newly recruited female conductors was held today (06) Friday at the Makumbura Multimodal Transport Centre.

Deputy Minister of Mass Media Dr. Kaushalya Ariyaratne, Member of Parliament Samanmali Gunasinghe, and Chairman of the Sri Lanka Transport Board Sajeeva Kanagarathna participated in this event.

Another special feature of this ceremony was the introduction of a new uniform specially designed for the newly joined female conductors.
