Devnimori Veneration of the Sacred Relics Concluded

The veneration of the Sacred Relics of the Buddha, brought from the historic Devnimori sacred site in India, concluded today (11) at 6 AM.




The Sacred Relics are also scheduled to be taken back to India this morning.

The veneration of the Sacred Relics of the Buddha, discovered at the historic Devnimori sacred site in Gujarat, India, has been taking place at the Hunupitiya Gangaramaya Temple since the 5th.




A large number of devotees from all corners of the island venerated the Sacred Relics over the past few days.

Even last night, a large number of devotees had come to venerate the Relics.



After the morning 'Thewawa' (ritual offering) for the Devnimori Sacred Relics today, they are scheduled to be taken in a motor procession to the Katunayake Bandaranaike International Airport around 9:45 AM.

Thereafter, the Sacred Relics will be taken back to India by a special flight, said Dr. Venerable Kirinde Assaji Thero, Chief Incumbent of Hunupitiya Gangaramaya Temple.
