A special meeting was held yesterday (10) afternoon at the Presidential Secretariat between His Holiness Dr. Syedna Mufaddal Saifuddin Saheb, the spiritual leader of the Bohra community, and President Anura Kumara Dissanayake. This visit by Saifuddin Saheb, who leads over a million members of the Bohra community spread across many countries including India, Pakistan, the United States of America, the United Kingdom, Canada, and Australia, was noted as a significant event.
Engaging in a very cordial discussion with the President, the Bohra spiritual leader appreciated the program being carried out by the government, led by the President, to bring about a new social and economic transformation in Sri Lanka. In particular, the extensive measures launched by the government to eradicate the drug menace gripping the country and to eliminate fraud and corruption received his praise, and he also extended his blessings for the success of these endeavors.
It was recalled that the inter-relationship between the Bohra community residing in Sri Lanka and other communities has a long history. Furthermore, the spiritual leader informed the President about the unique contribution made by the Bohra community towards the economic development of Sri Lanka.
Speaking on this occasion, President Anura Kumara Dissanayake extended his respectful gratitude for the spiritual leader of the Bohra community's visit to Sri Lanka. A group of senior representatives from the Bohra community were present at this event, and representing the government were Deputy Speaker Rizvi Sally, Western Province Governor Haniff Yusuf, and Presidential Secretary Dr. Nandika Sanath Kumanayake.
