The Colombo Divisional Secretariat reveals that there are various issues with many applications submitted from the Colombo District to receive the initial allowance of Rs. 25,000 provided by the government for the reconstruction of houses that were submerged or partially damaged due to the impact of Cyclone Ditwa. According to data released by the office, various shortcomings have been identified in 1,429 applications submitted to receive the relevant initial payment.




Furthermore, out of the applications submitted, 1,169 have been rejected, and these initial payments have already been completed for 48,974 applicants within the Colombo District.

Meanwhile, although 27,683 applicants applied to receive the Rs. 50,000 allowance offered by the government for the purchase of kitchen equipment, data reports indicate that payments have been made to only 7,633 individuals. The amount allocated for this purpose for the Colombo District is Rs. 962,900,000.




Furthermore, it has been revealed that the Rs. 15,000 allowance provided by the government for the purchase of school supplies has been paid to only 2,811 schoolchildren in the Colombo District. The amount allocated for providing this relief to children in the Colombo District affected by Cyclone Ditwa is reported to be Rs. 940,365,000.
