Today (12) Sri Lanka's dollar and gold prices

Compared to last Friday, the value of the Sri Lankan Rupee against the US Dollar has slightly increased today (12), and the selling price of the dollar in most commercial banks remains around Rs. 312.




Upon checking Seylan Bank's exchange rates, the dollar's buying price has decreased to Rs. 306.65 and the selling price to Rs. 311.40. According to NDB Bank, the dollar's buying and selling prices have fallen to Rs. 306 and Rs. 312.50 respectively, while at People's Bank, these values have also decreased to Rs. 305.74 (buying) and Rs. 312.48 (selling).

However, there has been no change in the exchange rates at Commercial Bank and Sampath Bank. Commercial Bank's dollar buying price remains at Rs. 304.24 and the selling price at Rs. 312.75. Sampath Bank's dollar buying price was recorded unchanged at Rs. 305.75 and the selling price at Rs. 312.25. Meanwhile, according to official data from the Central Bank of Sri Lanka, the dollar's buying price has decreased from Rs. 305.62 to Rs. 305.53, and the selling price from Rs. 313.16 to Rs. 313.07. The value of the Rupee has also undergone minor changes relative to a basket of foreign currencies, including Gulf region currencies.




While the foreign exchange market remains in this state, local gold prices also show an increase, paralleling the rise in world market gold prices.

According to market data, the price of an ounce of gold today was recorded at Rs. 1,458,000, and the price of a gram of 24-carat gold was Rs. 46,900. A gram of 22-carat gold is reported to be selling for Rs. 42,900, and a gram of 21-carat gold for Rs. 40,900. Considering gold sovereign prices, a 24-carat gold sovereign was recorded at Rs. 375,000, and a 22-carat gold sovereign at Rs. 343,200.
