The police sergeant father who took the young man, who had problems with his daughter, off the bus and assaulted him, was arrested.

A police sergeant, who allegedly forcibly removed and assaulted a 14-year-old schoolboy from a bus he was traveling in, angered by an assault on his daughter who was returning home from school, has been arrested by Hettipola Police. Preliminary investigations have revealed that the suspect assaulted the student in the ear area.

The officer arrested in connection with this incident serves at a police station belonging to the Negombo Police Superintendent's Division. Acting on a complaint made to the police by the assaulted fourteen-year-old student, the police conducted investigations and arrested the suspect officer.

Police say that while the student was returning home from school by bus, the sergeant's daughter, who was on the same bus, had told her father, who was on leave at home, that she had been assaulted. Acting on this information, the sergeant, along with two other acquaintances, arrived in a car, blocked the path of the bus the student was traveling in, and stopped it.

Subsequently, the sergeant forcibly removed the student from the bus and assaulted him. After the suspect arrested in connection with the incident was produced before the Hettipola Magistrate's Court, the court ordered him to be remanded until today (30th).
