Namal Rajapaksa, National Organizer of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna and Member of Parliament, stated that he participated in a lecture at an Indian university and expects to receive more such invitations in the future, adding that the government is agitated, unable to tolerate this recognition. He made these remarks today while answering questions posed by journalists when he appeared before the Colombo Magistrate's Court. Namal Rajapaksa further commented here...

"Kalinga University had invited me to deliver a special lecture on Indian Republic Day. So, I, along with a group of our MPs, attended the university and delivered the lecture. Some people here are agitated, but there's no need to be agitated when a university invites someone to give a lecture. So, I want to tell them that this isn't the first lecture, and there are more to come. The government is agitated not because of the recognition I receive or someone else receives, but because they have failed to accomplish what they came to do. These people came to serve the people of the country and change this system."

So, this government is operating in a way that drags the system backward even more than it was, and is destroying the entire system. That's why I feel they are agitated. Because they too must be realizing that there is growing opposition against them from within society and the country. Yes, a few months ago, a certain minister stood up in Parliament and said that people would be jailed in January. A cabinet minister in the front row of Parliament stood up and said, 'Let's see in January, people will be jailed,' and that the necessary summons might be issued. But I am sorry. Andare has become king. Today, with someone like Andare as king, the IGP appointed from Pelawatte doesn't know how the country's police operate."
