The no-confidence motion against Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya has been further delayed due to the Tamil National Alliance's reluctance to submit it to the Speaker. Accordingly, political sources state that it has been decided to postpone the submission of the relevant motion until the next parliamentary week.

Previously, it was planned to officially submit this no-confidence motion to the Speaker last week. Explaining the matter, Samagi Jana Balawegaya Member of Parliament J.C. Alawathuwala stated that the delay occurred because a few more MP signatures were yet to be obtained for the motion.

It is reported that this motion has already received the support of leaders from several opposition parties. Accordingly, MP Alawathuwala confirmed that leaders of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party, Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna, Sarvajana Balaya, and partner parties allied with the Samagi Jana Balawegaya have also signed it.

However, the Tamil National Alliance has decided not to support this no-confidence motion. The leader of that alliance, Mr. S. Sridharan, made a special statement yesterday (12), emphasizing that his party will not act in favor of the relevant motion.

The opposition has prepared to bring this no-confidence motion based on the crisis situations that have recently arisen in the education sector. Specifically, this motion targets the Prime Minister as the subject minister, focusing on the issue of the module system and other serious problems existing in the education sector.
