Kollupitiya Police state that two unknown individuals who arrived on a motorcycle yesterday (25) morning shot at the building and gate of a music college on R.A. De Mel Mawatha, Kollupitiya, with a T56 firearm and then fled.
Preliminary police investigations have revealed that about 15 shots were fired. Police say that following a phone call received by Kollupitiya Police stating that empty bullet casings were found in front of the college, the OIC and a group of officers went there and commenced investigations.
A senior police officer stated that CCTV cameras also recorded two individuals arriving on a motorcycle around 2:35 AM, with the person on the pillion seat suddenly firing a firearm towards the building and the gate. Police say that no one was injured in the incident and that the bullets fired from the firearm hit the walls of the college building and the gate. The motive behind the shooting has not been revealed.
The senior police officer further stated that investigations have been launched using nearby security camera footage to gather information regarding the motorcycle used in the shooting and the individuals involved.
