Ramesh Pathirana was given two new positions in the Pohottuwa.

Ramesh Pathirana, a former minister who represented the Galle District, was appointed as the Bentara Elpitiya electorate organizer of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP). He received the letter of appointment today (22.01.2026) from Namal Rajapaksa, the National Organizer of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna, at the party headquarters located on Nelum Mawatha. Furthermore, Ramesh Pathirana has also been appointed as the convener of the SLPP Health Professionals' Association.

Ramesh Pathirana supported former President Ranil Wickremesinghe in the last presidential election. Today, along with Ramesh Pathirana, a group of former local government chairpersons and members of local government bodies from the Galle District also joined the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna.
