Pinpong instead of Gamini Lokuge from Kottawa for Pohottuwa

Mr. Rajitha Hiran, also known as Pinpong, a popular comedian in the country, has been appointed as the new Kesbewa electorate organizer for the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna. Accordingly, having received the appointment as the new organizer, he recently took steps to officially commence his political activities for the electorate at the party office located in Piliyandala.

This electorate was previously overseen by the late politician Mr. Gamini Lokuge.

Several prominent figures from the art world also joined the occasion when Rajitha Hiran commenced his duties, including actress Ruwanthi Mangala, wife of singer Namal Udugama, Jayantha Ketagoda, Sagara Kariyawasam, and actor Arjun Kamalanath. His appointment was made by Member of Parliament D.V. Chanaka.

However, a notable point here is that both actors, Rajitha Hiran, who took over the new organizer position, and Arjun Kamalanath, who joined the event, had supported former President Ranil Wickremesinghe's victory during the last presidential election.

Previously, during the Mahinda Rajapaksa administration, an accusation was leveled against both these actors in society that they had irregularly received monthly salaries and allowances from the Sri Lanka Army. Having acted as staunch Rajapaksa loyalists for a long time, they were also very active members of the political campaign to bring Mr. Gotabaya Rajapaksa to power.

Nevertheless, they later became critical of the Gotabaya Rajapaksa administration, publicly stating that they never believed the Rajapaksas would be such unsuccessful rulers.
