The Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment (SLBFE) has launched a comprehensive plan to send one thousand Sri Lankans for home-based caregiving jobs in Israel by the year 2026.
Applications for these job opportunities are invited from Sri Lankans aged between 25 and 45 years who have sat for the G.C.E. Ordinary Level examination. Specifically, individuals who have completed a caregiving training course at the Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment or an approved training institution and obtained an NVQ III certificate, or those with at least 11 months of experience in the nursing profession, are eligible. Proficiency in English is essential, and priority will be given to those who have successfully completed an English course conducted by the Bureau. Successful applicants will receive a 5-year valid visa and have the opportunity to earn a monthly salary exceeding 600,000 Sri Lankan Rupees.
These caregiving job opportunities are available to Sri Lankans in accordance with a Memorandum of Understanding signed between the Government of Sri Lanka and the Government of Israel. Under this agreement, 2,656 individuals have already been provided with jobs in Israel.
Furthermore, it is noteworthy that within a short period since the beginning of 2026, specifically within the first two weeks, the Bureau has already facilitated the departure of 107 Sri Lankan caregiving professionals to Israel.
All these job opportunities are provided solely by the government, jointly by the Population and Immigration Authority (PIBA) of Israel, on behalf of the Israeli government, and the Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment. Therefore, the Bureau emphasizes that no external agency or individual has the ability to intervene in this process. The Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment strongly urges the public to refrain from giving money or passports to any other party in this regard.
