Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) Member of Parliament Namal Rajapaksa, who visited the son of former minister Johnston Fernando, currently in remand, stated today that the government is not properly enforcing the law to implement its political agenda. He also accused the government of wasting millions of public funds by deploying several police teams to search for former minister Johnston Fernando.

The MP, pointing out that the majority of his party members have not evaded court or police so far, questioned whether the police consider Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna members, like Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna members, as a group that flees at the sight of the police.

He stated that the government is not seriously considering the lives lost due to the recent disaster situation, and to cover up these circumstances, it is exaggerating a transaction of about two and a half lakhs of rupees (250,000 LKR) that occurred through a business entity as a 'large-scale fraud'.

The MP accused that while the government has so far failed to appoint an Auditor General, it is carrying out activities such as importing cabs into the country, releasing containers, and importing rice.

Mr. Namal Rajapaksa further stated that he suspects the President is attempting to appoint an Auditor General of his choice to secure the tender for importing 1700 cabs.
