Namal and others attend Indian Republic Day (video)

The delegation including Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna's National Organizer, Member of Parliament Namal Rajapaksa, who visited Odisha State in India to attend the official ceremony celebrating India's Republic Day, received a high diplomatic reception there. Posting a note on his official Facebook account regarding this visit, Mr. Namal Rajapaksa stated that he extends his best wishes for India's Republic Day and believes that Sri Lanka, as well as other neighboring countries, have a significant set of responsibilities in the Indian Ocean region.




The MP pointed out that a republic is not merely an inheritance but a valuable concept that must be responsibly maintained for the future. On the occasion of this year's Indian Republic Day celebrations, he also made a special request to the youth generation across the entire Indian Ocean region. He emphasized that it is essential for young people to act with strong attention to the opportunities available to them, human values, and common prosperity to shape a better future.

Members of Parliament Chithral Fernando, Chamindrani Kiriella, Chathura Galappaththi, and Prasad Siriwardhana also joined this official visit,  



Former Members of Parliament Indika Anuruddha, Sanjeeva Edirimanna, and Sampath Athukorala were also present. In addition, Milinda Rajapaksha, a member of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna's Political Bureau, is also included in this delegation,  
During this visit, they also plan to observe the Odisha Disaster Management Centre, which is considered one of the world's best disaster management centers. Furthermore, the delegation, including Mr. Namal Rajapaksa, is scheduled to pay special attention to visiting historical Buddhist artifacts and monuments from the era of Emperor Ashoka during this tour.
