Sri Lankan table tennis player Tavi Samarawickrama, who holds the number one spot in the world's Under-11 category, arrived at Katunayake International Airport this morning (26) after winning two gold medals at two international ranking tournaments held in Bahrain and Qatar.
He first won a gold medal in the Under-11 category at the World Junior Table Tennis Ranking Tournament held in Bahrain from the 14th to the 18th. Subsequently, Tavi Samarawickrama managed to secure another gold medal by achieving first place in the Under-11 category at the World Junior Table Tennis Tournament held in Doha, Qatar, from the 19th to the 25th.
Tavi Samarawickrama, currently 10 years old, is a talented student studying in Grade 6 at St. Thomas' College, Mount Lavinia, Colombo. His father, Mr. Hasitha Samarawickrama, serves as his coach.

Airport officials gave them a warm and high-level reception, and Tavi Samarawickrama's mother, brother, former President of the Sri Lanka Table Tennis Federation Mr. Daya Samarawickrama, and several close family relatives were also present at the occasion.
