Missing Johnny appears and surrenders to FCID

Former Minister Johnston Fernando appeared before the Financial Crimes Investigation Division (FCID) regarding the accusation of causing financial loss to the government by misusing a lorry belonging to Sathosa.
He had been missing in recent days while the police were searching for him.




Against the backdrop of police initiating investigations to arrest him in connection with the misuse of a Lanka Sathosa lorry and causing financial loss to the government, the former minister was informed to appear before the FCID today.

Mr. Indika Ratnamalala, who served as the Transport Manager of Lanka Sathosa during Mr. Fernando's tenure as Minister of Cooperatives and Internal Trade, was arrested yesterday (04) in connection with this incident. After being produced before the Wattala Magistrate's Court, he was remanded until January 09. Johnston's son, Johan Fernando, was also arrested in connection with this incident.




Mr. Ratnamalala has been remanded under charges of preparing forged documents to facilitate the use of a Sathosa lorry for the benefit of the former minister's son, Mr. Johan Fernando, by an ethanol company owned by the former minister.
