Indrani from the Netherlands searching for her mother in Sri Lanka

Nearly four decades ago, thirty-nine years ago, a tiny infant born in this country flew to a distant land with unknown parents in an unknown country. As if by a twist of fate, that infant, separated from her homeland, is now a mature woman living a family life.

Raised in the Netherlands, her name is Indrani. Even today, she is making a strenuous effort to find the warmth of the loving mother who gave birth to her thirty-nine years ago. Although she could not be nurtured with milk, seeing the face of her real mother who gave birth to her, even once, has become the sole dream of her life. With this noble goal in mind, she is eagerly awaiting her arrival in Sri Lanka this coming June.

Indrani possesses old documents and a birth certificate that provide some clues about her past. According to these documents, she was born on December 1, 1986. The documents clearly state that Colombo's De Soysa Hospital for Women is her birthplace. It is a great relief for her that some information about the mother who carried her and gave birth to her is also recorded on the birth certificate. According to these records, her mother was twenty years old on August 19, 1985. Surprisingly, it is further noted that even at that young age, she was a mother of three children and an unmarried woman. Although this is a problematic situation to resolve regarding her past, it will undoubtedly be an important piece of evidence in her journey to find her mother.

Furthermore, the birth certificate states her mother's residential address as No. 136/11, Bloemendhal Road, Kotahena. Indrani strongly believes that she will be able to find some clue through this address in the Kotahena area, a densely populated part of Colombo city. However, another document she possesses has been found, adding some confusion to this information. This is a later-prepared affidavit. According to this affidavit, the child's birth took place at Negombo Hospital. This discrepancy between the De Soysa Hospital in Colombo mentioned in the birth certificate and the Negombo Hospital mentioned in the affidavit has made the task of finding her mother somewhat complicated. But she remains determined to find the truth, no matter what.

Indrani, who lives in the Netherlands, is now a loving wife and a mother with children. She is not coming to Sri Lanka alone this time. Her loving husband and children are also scheduled to join her on this emotional journey. While searching for the maternal love she lost, she also hopes to introduce her children to their grandmother and show them the beauty of her homeland. She is eagerly counting down the days until this beautiful hope, which has been weighing on her heart for many years, comes to fruition.

If Indrani's mother, who is now middle-aged, is alive, she should be a woman in her sixties. If anyone knows any information about her through the address on Bloemendhal Road in Kotahena or the information related to Negombo Hospital, providing it to Indrani would be a great act of merit. It would be immensely helpful in uncovering the truth that has been hidden for nearly four decades and reuniting separated blood relatives. This coming June, she will set foot in Sri Lanka, carrying in her heart the sole hope of finding the most valuable treasure in her life: "Amma" (Mother).
