How Guruge presented a gem casket containing gems worth a crore to the Kathnoruwe Thero, who arrived by helicopter.

A casket embedded with gems worth over ten million rupees was offered to Katnoruwe Siridamma Thero, a renowned Buddhist preacher, by a gem businessman from Kahawatta.

The offering of the casket took place on the 25th by Gayan Guruge, owner of Guruge Gems, and his mother, Swarna Guruge, after Katnoruwe Thero was invited to deliver a sermon in remembrance of the late Jinadasa Guruge, founder of Guruge Gems, and in celebration of his and Mrs. Swarna Guruge's wedding anniversary.

This special casket is embedded with an eight-carat blue sapphire, along with many other valuable gems including blue sapphires and rubies.

The casket was designed with gold plating and carvings.

Gayan Guruge, the owner of Kahawatta Guruge Gems who offered the casket, stated that the value of the gems was not calculated. Given that this is a sacred offering, the casket is embedded with gems worth over ten million rupees according to current market value. 32 blue sapphire gemstones are also embedded in the casket.
