 According to the latest situation report released by the Disaster Management Centre, as of 10:00 AM on December 02, 2025, a total of 1,466,615 individuals from 407,594 families across the island have been affected by the prevailing adverse weather conditions. The overall death toll due to this catastrophic situation has risen to 410 across the island, with 336 individuals officially confirmed missing.



According to the report, the highest number of casualties has been reported from the Kandy District, with 88 deaths and 150 missing persons. Badulla District has reported 83 deaths and 28 missing, while Nuwara Eliya District has seen 75 deaths and 62 missing. Additionally, the Disaster Management Centre states that Kurunegala District has reported 52 deaths, Puttalam District 27 deaths, and Matale and Kegalle Districts 24 and 22 deaths respectively.

The highest number of affected individuals is in Puttalam District, with 271,206 people. Colombo District has 269,403 affected individuals, and Gampaha District has 205,189 affected individuals, while


Mannar District has also reported 127,269 affected individuals. Districts such as Ratnapura, Kurunegala, and Jaffna have also seen a significant population impacted by these adverse weather conditions.

A total of 1,441 safe centres have been established across the island for displaced persons, currently housing 233,015 individuals from 64,483 families. In Puttalam District alone, 40,821 individuals are in safe locations, while Gampaha and Colombo Districts each have over twenty thousand people directed to safe centres.

Regarding damage to homes and property, 565 fully damaged houses and 20,271 partially damaged houses have been reported across the island. Badulla District accounts for the highest number of fully damaged houses, with 269, while Kurunegala and Gampaha Districts have also sustained significant housing damage. This situation report was issued by Lieutenant Commander N.K.N.I. Wijesinghe, National Coordinating Officer, on behalf of the Director General of the Disaster Management Centre.
