Stating that it is a very strategic asset for the United States and global security, former President Donald Trump has reiterated his desire to buy Greenland, which should belong to America.

Following this objective, Trump has also moved to appoint Jeff Landry, the Attorney General of Louisiana, as a special envoy for Greenland.

Regarding this appointment, Trump stated today that Greenland is a valuable asset for national security. Trump, who says that this is a reason related to national and international security rather than obtaining mineral resources, also emphasized that America's aspirations are firm in moving forward with the new envoy to protect friendly nations and the entire world.

Trump had previously stated that "Greenland is necessary for national and international security, and it should definitely belong to America." He also stated that he is ready to take any necessary steps to obtain the ownership of the island.

Greenland, located in the Arctic Ocean between North America and Europe, has an extremely important geopolitical position. This island is very strategically located for establishing missile interception systems, as well as for monitoring Russian and Chinese activities in the Arctic. In addition, it is believed that Greenland is rich in mineral and energy resources, although strict policies are in place for exploration activities.

However, Denmark, which owns Greenland as a self-governing region, has strongly opposed Trump's statements. Danish authorities have stated that Trump's enthusiasm for acquiring the island through a special envoy is further confirmed.

Leaders of Greenland and Denmark emphasize that it is essential to protect their territorial integrity, and that Greenland's long-term autonomous status should not be acquired by any other state. They also strongly criticize Trump's statements that Greenland "should belong to them."
